The church was built as a late Gothic, three-aisled hall church. The oldest part of the building is the tower from 1393-1395. After a fire in the Thirty Years' War, the destroyed ribbed vault was replaced by a coffered ceiling. In 1979/80 the choir room received today's windows from the Jakobus Klonk workshop.
The church is home to the largest organ built by the master organ builder Friedrich Hilpert in 1861. (Excerpt from Wikipedia)
