In its architectural unity, the town square is one of the most beautiful street squares in Austria, whose houses mostly have attractive Baroque facades from the 17th and 18th centuries. The houses themselves, however, are mostly older, which is particularly evident in the backyards, which date back to the Gothic and Renaissance periods.
Since the Middle Ages, the town square has been used to hold markets where mainly livestock and agricultural products were traded. Even today, weekly, Advent and antique markets are held here.
