The roughly rectangular ring wall with rounded corners was built on the south side of the Vennegraben. It has a 7 m wide ditch in front and a base width of 3 m.
The complex served as a refuge and dates back to the early Middle Ages. The complex is dated to the 10th-12th century based on the finds inside. The houses inside were covered with slate and the ring wall was fortified with a palisade.
