Fords are shallow areas in streams or rivers that allow crossing the water without a bridge. They were particularly important in the past for the construction of traffic routes.
The Berkelfurt is still used by a farm. Since there is private property on the opposite bank, the Berkelfurt cannot really be used to cross the Berkel. However, it is quite possible to take a short break and relax your feet in the cool water. Created using information from spektrum.de/lexikon/geographie/furt/2774.

Many of the photos show the bathers at the old outdoor pool a little further up the Berkel. The ford is still used by a farm. However, there is a bank nearby, a station of the open Billerbeck local history museum with a QR code and an information stele, as well as some rocking horses for children. So it's a good idea to take a break here.
