In addition to the two coat of arms from 1725 and 1789, which testify to the course of the border that had existed for several centuries (then between Saxony and Bayreuth), there is a memorial stone on the Schildwiese to commemorate the first all-German Rennsteig hike in 1990 and a memorial erected for the Rennsteig Church Day in June 2009 , which is to commemorate the fall of the Berlin Wall 20 years ago, but also the dramatic, often fatal attempts to escape along the inner German border.
