After 4 months home office, it was time today and I was allowed to work in the office again. The weather was perfect and it felt really good to cycle into the sunrise. As always, I drove from Ernstthal towards Brandt and from there via the Clemens Major path to Spechtsbrunn. From there, follow the Rennsteig to Kleintettau. On the way home I made a little detour along the Million Street.

Via the Rennsteig to Neuhaus to the bakery. Then around the Bornhügel and Gypsy Mountain to the Wächtersteich. From there follow the Steinach through the valley towards Lauscha. Now on the left hand through the valley of the old mother up to Hedgehog. From there around the stony hill, past the Edelweißbrunnen and over the Igelskuppe towards Ernstthal. Quickly past the plant garden and cenotaph to the Trinius view. From there on a bumpy piece of mulled wine trail home.In the forest it smells incredibly intense of mushrooms and visually the thimbles that bloom everywhere have something to offer. If you like mushrooms, you shouldn't go into the forest unarmed 🤪.

To counteract the loneliness in the HO, I went from Ernstthal via the Rennsteig to Neuhaus. There was a short ice age 🤪. We drove home to the Bornhügel and stony hill over the Igelskuppe. Almost like the Saturday bakery round.

Today we went from Ernstthal through the dark ground to Lichte-Waschdorf. From there via Lichte-Geiersthal to the Leibis dam. We circled them counterclockwise. There were surprisingly few people around today. Then it went back via L.-G. after L.-W .. Am Bahnh
of Lichte passing through the forest up to the Ernstthal planting garden and driving home from there in a zigzag.

When the sun is shining, the bakery tour cannot be long enough!
Today we went from Ernstthal over the Rennsteig to Neuhaus, around the Bornhügel, past Igelshieb, around the stony hill, past the Edelweiß, over the Igelskuppe back to Ernstthal. There in the direction of plant species, over the 400m path to the cenotaph, further to the Trinius view over the mulled wine trail to the skier's cross and down to the Wally-Eichhorn-Nelson hut (Richtstatt). Further around the Pappenheimer and then the toboggan run up to Ernstthal. At the summer toboggan run I could watch a small fawn for a good 15 minutes. That was my personal highlight 😍.

We started our tour today at the Hohenwarte dam parking lot. (Day ticket 4 €). We drove clockwise towards Alterbucht and CP Saalthal Alter. From there it went to the moss house (be careful to take a staircase here). Then to Wilhelmsdorf and around the Geiersberg towards Rotacker, Saupfütze and Herrmanns Ruh. Then you come to the CP Portenschmiede. Unfortunately, we couldn't take this route further due to a steep abyss and therefore drove back a bit to drive up through the Portengrund and Saalleite to Gössitz. There we decided to walk through the villages of Schmorda, Ranis (with a break and delicious organic ice cream), Wöhlsdorf Seisla, Dobian, Oelsen, Könitz and Bucha. From there it went downhill briefly and we were back at the parking lot.
The trails are already a bit demanding on the bikes. The paths are rocky and rooted. A lot of blackberry bushes are hanging on the ways (luckily we did not get a thorn 😅).

Today we started our tour on the Saaleradweg at the P + R car park at Saalfeld train station. We drove along the Saale via Remschütz to Rudolstadt. From there it went via the villages Catharinau, Kolkwitz, Weißen, Oberkrossen, Uhlstädt, Zeutsch, Niederkrossen, Freienorla and Kleineutersdorf to Kahla. We really liked the weir there. Now it went up to the Leuchtenburg in Seitenroda. There we had a small snack with a fantastic view and the best weather. After circumnavigating the Leuchtenburg we drove through the valley "in the Süppich" to Großpürschütz. Via Schops, Jägersdorf, Oelknitz and Röthenstein to Jena. In Jena we did another lap, then we took the train from Jena-Göschwitz back to Saalfeld.

Today's tour took us from Ernstthal over the Rennsteig to Neuhaus. From there past Weidmannsheil to Limbach. Continue to the Three Stream Stone and Soldier's Grave. Siegmundsburg left to the left, past the small Werra spring up to the Bleßberg. From there down to Schirnrod. Further on stilts, Mausendorf, Neundorf, Truckenthal and Schalkau. Now along the Itz to Almerswind. Through Weißenbrunn to Froschgrundsee. We got a great frog concert there. Further through Fischbach, Höhn and Brüx past beautiful poppy fields. Then to Neustadt and Sonneberg. Through the Röthengrund up to the Röthenquelle and Hämmerer level. From there to Steinach to the train station. Our sit bones just wanted to get off the saddle. By train to Ernstthal and then cycled home for another 2km.
All in all a very nice tour!

From Ernstthal in the direction of the ski lift and then over the muddy mulled wine trail, which has been completely ravaged by the forest and leads to the Triniusblick. From there towards the cenotaph and then switch right into the forest to the Kieselbach spring. From there another way back up towards the memorial and back to Ernstthal. The mulled wine trail is unfortunately no longer appealing. Through all the lanes from the forest, it is a pure sledging area. Whether that is good for tourism remains to be seen. It's a shame!
