An information panel for tourists states that the Lahusen family lived at Große Straße 112. Who were these people? The Lahusens played a significant role in shaping the destiny of our city for nearly 150 years. This house, now marked, was certainly their ancestral home. After the renumbering in 1806, it bore the number 129.
A Lahusen was first mentioned in the council records of 1652. This was Christoffer Lahusen, born around 1629. By trade, he was a cloth merchant and shopkeeper. In 1663, he was the Schüttenmeister, a position held by one of the four city captains.
