The imposing Rozenhof villa was built between 1891 and 1895 on a former country estate of the same name, based on a design by the renowned Amsterdam architect A.L. van Gendt. The Count of Rechteren Limburg, who moved into the house with his family, commissioned the client. He lived there for only a short time; after four years, the property was purchased at auction by the Dordrecht Life Insurance Company, which converted it into an office building. The adjoining garden was sacrificed for new construction; only the rose garden was spared. From 1917 to 1977, the tax authorities were located there. The building still serves as an office building today.
The streets around Rozenhof villa are lined with beautiful buildings (the so-called new construction mentioned in the previous text). It is highly recommended to view these buildings from the street.
