Henisdael or Hinnisdael was a Loon fief within the territory of Vechmaal, and was provided with a castle with a farm, surrounded by moats. It was owned by the knights of Hinnisdael, an important Haspengouw family, of which the oldest known descendant is Gilles de Hinnisdael (circa 1200); he is said to have gone on a crusade with Philip of Alsace. Through marriage they also came into possession of Sint-Pieters-Heurne; from then on they called themselves lords of Horne.
