The place name RÜDENAU derives from the old knight family of the VON RÜD, who lived there in the valley floor. No traces remain from this period. After the war, Rüdenau was best known for a textile factory where suits could be made. The largest German whiskey distillery ST.KILIAN now works in the old manufactory rooms.
