De Vier Winden is the name of a round stone windmill in Monster, South Holland. The current windmill was built in 1882, replacing a burnt-down wooden mill. A mill at this location was already mentioned in 1311. In the 1920s, a residential area was built around De Vier Winden, which obstructed the wind catch, to the displeasure of the miller who complained about this to the municipality, but without success. The mill was then sold and remained in use until 1957, after which the mill was sold to the then municipality of Monster. After several restorations, the mill has been in use on a voluntary basis since 1983. The most recent restoration dates from 2007. De Vier Winden has three pairs of millstones, one of which is equipped with so-called "blue" stones; the others with artificial stones. Source: nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Vier_Winden_(Monster)

A beautiful mill, very close to the beach - and the best thing: directly opposite there is an excellent croquette and chip stand, and next to it an ice cream parlor. Highly recommended both visually and culinary-wise.
Tip: when the mill is open, you can also buy different types of flour inside.
