The formation of the rock near the bike path at Mistelbach could not be explained for a long time. This is how the following legend came about: The mother of two failed sons asked a dwarf people to drive the devil out of the area because he was responsible for the sons' wrongdoing. The dwarfs found the devil sleeping in the Arzloch near Mistelbach. They handcuffed him to the ground and dammed the stream to drown him. However, he woke up, freed himself and hurled a boulder after the fleeing dwarfs. This landed in the valley where it is still today. Since then, the devil has not been seen in Mistelbach or Arzloch and the failed sons found their way back to a respectable life.
