Drago Vaia Regeneration

The new Vaia Dragon (officially 'Vaia Regeneration Dragon') is spectacular, imposing and totally different from the previous one: bigger, more threatening and above all more pissed off against the human stupidity that destroys nature and art, and of which the anonymous arson of the previous work is an emblem of this.
It was literally reborn from the work burned on the night of August 23, 2023: in addition to sharing the same position, 10-15% of the wood was recovered from the previous dragon. A symbol of rebirth and resilience.

It returned after less than a year as the largest wooden dragon in the world: 16 meters long x 7 meters high (double the first), 6 tons of wood, more than 3000 pieces on a steel supporting structure. Unlike the previous one, the dragon was not created on site, but inside a warehouse in Pedescala, to then be transported here in two huge parts and assembled.

I quote the artist of the work Marco Martalar: «It took ten months of work to create it and the work carries with it the memory of what happened to its predecessor. Inside there are not only the roots of the Vaia storm but there is also a part of the old dragon that was destroyed, while the other parts were deliberately charred, to then be assembled together with the rest of the wood".
