The former Clarisse monastery was built and consecrated in 1301. In 1570 the last abbess of the monastery died. From 1664, the building housed the "Gymnasium Illustre Augusteum" founded by Duke August von Sachsen-Weißenfels, where the nobility and future civil servants of the state were educated. After the ducal line died out, the Weissenfels teacher training college moved into the monastery building in 1837. The municipal museum and the police also found their headquarters in the monastery buildings for a while. Currently, the monastery can only be visited from the outside.stadttour-deutschland.de/Weissenfels.html#Sights
