The city's great son is honored with a monument erected in 1958 in the Glauchau train station park. The larger-than-life standing figure shows Georgius Agricola with a beret on his head, dressed with a cap and a shirt with a high collar. He carries a book in his right hand and a rock crystal in his open left hand. Book and mineral illustrate his work as a scholar, humanist and founder of mining science. The biographical dates are attached to the base - also in cast bronze: GEORGIUS AGRICOLA 1494 -1555.
