The Neuhöfer Wiese is not far from the Rennsteig and offers a good view far into the Rhön. At the upper end of the meadow is the hut of the Rotterode rescue service and at the lower end the hut of the Turnvater Jahn Verein Schmalkalden. Both huts are serviced on the weekends.
