From 1965 onwards, various drillings were carried out in the area south of Neualbenreuth to extract carbonated medicinal waters. You also come across water with a high radon content, which is used for later spa operations. After a first failed attempt in 1972, the Sybillenbad association was founded in 1985 to run the spa.

The Sybil spring borehole is located at this point, although it is quite inconspicuous.
