Just a few meters southwest of the summit is an impressive, deep crevice that is secured with a fence on all sides. It has to be very deep, the bottom cannot be seen from above.

This crevice is or was a snow storage facility. Hence the “nickname” of the mountain. The peak is actually called Cima Tejeda. The cave, the Sima Maroma, was previously used as a snow storage facility. The snow was pulled up with the help of maromas, pull ropes, hence the name Sima Maroma. Because "Cima" and "Sima" sound so similar, the mountain is now called "Cima Maroma" or just La Maroma.
