The small lake near the Grunau estate in Bayreuth is called Knochenmühlweiher (Bone Mill Pond). In earlier times, it served as a millpond for the bone mill (also called Bühlersmühle) located just below it, the building of which still stands today at Schwarzwaldstraße 32. The area around the pond is now an urban nature reserve and a popular local recreation area.
