Hiking

The castle was first mentioned in 1337 as a property of the Trautenberg family. It passed to Georg Friedrich von Unruh through marriage in 1602 and passed to the related Sparnecker family. The Reuth Castle Brewery was founded in 1742 during the time of the von Sparneck family in Reuth (1628–1744). The barons of Reitzenstein bought the Hofmark Reuth in 1772 and exercised the manorial power and jurisdiction until 1848. The property has been owned by Baron von Podewils since 1933.
