The cranes take a break in the NSG Galenbecker See and in the neighboring Friedländer Wiese on their flight south. Approx. There are 30-40,000 every year. You can watch them here in September / October when they fly to their sleeping places in the evening hours. It is an impressive spectacle that can be wonderfully observed from the viewing platform.
