The new parish church of Santa María Magdalena was built by the diocesan architect Florián Calvo in neo-Gothic style. Its exterior ornamentation is sober and its apse was arranged in such a way that its church could be enlarged when the growth of the parish required it.

The first temple of the orchards of La Poblachuela was where the cemetery is currently, one of its walls being part of it. This temple was deteriorating and at the beginning of the 20th century it was in a dilapidated state, so the realization of a new parish was planned in a different place than where the old temple was located. This new parish was built on the land donated by Mr. Martín Moreno, and in 1911 the second parish of Las Huertas de La Poblachuela dedicated to Santa María Magdalena was inaugurated.
