The Orbetello lagoon is a WWF oasis that extends for 850 hectares. The lagoon is brackish and has a depth of about 1 meter with silt islets covered with marsh vegetation. There are several species of birds including flamingos, great white heron, gray heron, osprey etc. There are several observation posts.
