Approximately 400 meters (1,312 ft) from the entrance, on the right (northern) side, stand three monolithic tomb blocks. Local Bedouins believed them to be dwellings of jinns (spirits) or cisterns (as-Sahrij). The latter apparently has more to do with the external form than just the external form, but may be of older origin.

In Petra there are block monuments carved out of the rock on all four sides. A definite dating is not possible, but they probably originated in the 2nd century BC. BC, if not already in the 3rd century BC. BC and are thus among the oldest monumental tombs in the metropolis of the Nabataean Empire.

Hiking

Was the capital of the Nabataean Empire in ancient times. Because of its monumental grave temples, the facades of which were carved directly from the rock, it is considered a unique cultural monument. On December 6, 1985, Petra was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
