    Approximately 400 meters (1,312 ft) from the entrance, on the right (northern) side, stand three monolithic tomb blocks. Local Bedouins believed them to be dwellings of jinns (spirits) or cisterns (as-Sahrij). The latter apparently has more to do with the external form than just the external form, but may be of older origin.

    In Petra there are block monuments carved out of the rock on all four sides. A definite dating is not possible, but they probably originated in the 2nd century BC.
