The Paschgraben, a concrete drainage ditch for mining in earlier times, was created on the initiative of the association “Förderkreis Feuchtbiotop Paschgraben Recklinghausen e. V. ”in the period from December 1993 to May 1995 designed to be close to nature. The area - a secondary biotope - is characterized by a large variety of plants and animals.

Meadows, fruit trees, hedges on approx. 15,000 square meters, the brook naturally looks for its own way, babbling - that is today the Paschgraben wetland in the east of Recklinghausen. A real idyll that is popular with walkers with and without dogs, hikers and cyclists. Information boards on trees, hedges, etc. provide environmental education on site. And the best part: the apples in the orchard can be picked by the citizens.
