A demonstration of breakthrough technology and innovative landscaping, Terra offers an extraordinary adventure that explores our individual and collective responsibilities as citizens on a changing planet.

Visitors to the breathtaking pavilion are taken on a journey that tells the enchanting story of mankind's relationship with nature and our impact on it. The experience is intended to enable visitors to understand the effects of their actions and to become actors of change.

There are a number of sustainable innovations on the site, including sophisticated irrigation techniques, a gray water recycling system, native plants that reduce water consumption by 75 percent, "energy trees" with solar cells that turn towards the sun like a sunflower, and a water tree, that produces water from the ambient air.

As part of the succession plans, the building will remain in District 2020 - the new city that will emerge from the Expo site - as a center for engaging children with science to teach and inspire future generations.

The Terra - The Pavilion of Sustainability, designed by the British architectural firm Grimshaw Architects, is intended to meet the highest available accreditation for sustainable architecture: LEED platinum certification.
