The large cemetery is surrounded by a dike made of field stones, which is interrupted in several places in the south and west by ancient structures. Beyond the smaller openings in the south and north, there are three brick portals that represent the entrances to the church and the cemetery. The church consists of an apse, chancel and nave from the Romanesque, late Gothic tower and sacristy, as well as a renaissance armory on the north side of the church (today used as a chapel). The church, built partly from tuff and partly from brick, is whitewashed, with the exception of the red brick tower. All the roofs of the church are covered with lead. The tower is 104 feet or about 31 meters tall.visitdenmark.de/daenemark/explore/ballum-kirche-gdk610871
