    The first bridge across the Mississippi River in the Twin Cities area was built at this location. The bridge opened on May 1, 1867. That bridge was replaced in 1893 and rebuilt in 1926. The bridge has had many different owners since 1867. It is currently owned and used by the Burlington Northern Sante Fe (BNSF) Railway.
