The legend says that there are six different sources and that each source flowing in its "batch" ("bac" in Walloon) would have a specific name and properties:
"Lu batch à djvas" was used as a watering hole for the horses,
"Lu batch à pourcès" was intended for washing pigs after burning the silks,
"Lu large batch" used by the washerwomen,
"Lu p'tit batch" used by butchers for cleaning casings,
"Read batch" was reserved for domestic use and
“Lu batch Lecomte” named after a very old family from Herve who drank only this water deemed to be the best.
Another legend has it that, during Christmas night, “Lu batch Lecomte” would spill wine instead of water. Anyone who dared to verify the accuracy of this legend would be struck dead. Notice to amateurs!
