This nuclear power plant near Rheinsberg, or Menz, was built in 1960, making it the first commercial nuclear power plant in the GDR.
Decommissioning, i.e., the disposal of all the radioactive hazardous waste, began in 1995, only five years after decommissioning, and is apparently still far from complete!!! – What a cost! – Who is so politically and economically stupid as to demand new nuclear power plants for Germany or to recommission existing ones at great expense?
