The history of the village goes back to the 13th century. 1317 an Otto de Tucharaz is handed down. The old Sorbian Tucharaz designates Tauchritz as possession of a Tuchorad. The historical village and field shape could indicate that the place existed before the medieval colonization of the 13th century. In 1357 the "Veste Tucheraz" was mentioned for the first time, a predecessor of the later moated castle. What remains of the Veste (castle) is perhaps the round tower on the east side of the current building. In 1322 the village and manor were owned by Eymuth von Neueshoven. In the years 1349 to 1422 in the hands of those from Biberstein, who also ruled over the fortified facilities on the Landeskrone. In 1427 the village is said to have been destroyed by the Hussites. Then until 1611 in the possession of the Gersdorf family. These sold to the Kretscham and Kirchlehn Georg von Warndorf. The chronicle tells us that on May 5th, 1683 the manor along with the outbuildings, church, school building, vicarage and farm burned down to the ground. The widow Maria Sidonia von Warnsdorf née Gersdorf had the estate rebuilt in 1686/87. As it still stands today. (When building the moated castle, the master builders followed French models and are comparable to those at the Zwinger in Dresden). The castle is privately owned.

In 1749 a descendant sold the complex to the evangelical, worldly aristocratic Frauleinstift Joachimstein near Radmaritz.

The water castle Tauchritz is a mansion in the Görlitz district of Tauchritz. It stands on the northern outskirts near the Berzdorfer See.

The former manor was first mentioned in a document in 1306. It belonged to Mr. Nikol von Neuershove, tester in Görlitz. The castle was built on oak piles in the swampy terrain and partially surrounded by moats to prevent the piles from drying out. From 1349 to 1422 it was owned by the noble Bieberstein family on Friedland. In 1422 it was bought by von Gersdorf. In 1611 Georg von Warnsdorf bought the castle and Dominium Tauchritz for 25,000 thalers. In 1683 a fire destroyed the castle and eleven other buildings. The current baroque castle was built by Maria Sidonia von Warnsdorf in 1686/1687 on the foundations of the old castle. It was owned by Warnsdorf until 1749 and was then sold to Joachimstein Abbey. After 1945 it was expropriated and public property. Among other things, it served as a school. It has been empty since 1987. After a sale, the building will be restored.
