The Dam Werda (also Geigenbachtalsperre) is a dam in the Free State of Saxony. It is located in the district "Geigenbachtal" the municipality Werda im Vogtlandkreis. The nearest town is Falkenstein. The dam was built by the city of Plauen from 1903 to 1909 and put into operation in 1910.
It is reported on post-commission postcards that an average of 450 workers participated and the construction cost was "about 7 million marks". The dam serves the drinking water supply of the city Plauen and environment and the flood protection. As the first dam in Germany, it had a directly connected waterworks with a filter system.
The jammed water is the Geigenbach, which feeds the much larger dam Pöhl in the further course under the name of drive.
