At this natural monument it becomes clear how far the advance of the Nordic inland ice during the ice age was. The Scandinavian glaciers then flowed to the valley of the Berlebecke.
Much is not recognizable in this type of gravel pit from the deposits of the past days. The ice thickness on site is estimated at 200m. An information board with the title "Ice age profile of the gravel pit tomcat" provides information on this geological ground monument directly on site.
