Königsegg Castle was built in the 16th century by the Counts of Königsegg on the site of the seat of the Ministerial of Reichenau Abbey. As early as the 17th century, the castle was rebuilt by the Augustinian canons of the Abbey of Beuron. At that time the property was in their possession and remained so until the secularization at the beginning of the 19th century.
The building has had a neo-Romanesque appearance since 1840.
The municipality of Reichenau has owned the castle and the adjacent park since 1983.
The castle cannot be visited, but it has a fairytale charm. It is used by a speech therapy school. The small park is freely accessible.
