The Franzenmühle is mentioned for the first time in 1626. In 1676 the name "Franzen" appears in documents. The name of the mill remains to this day.
The mill originally had a mill pond and mill race. The mill wheel was operated overshot. It remained in operation until 1930. Only in 1991 was it converted into a weekend house. The mill race still exists, but no longer carries water. The mill pond is a little further above the mill in the forest.
