The triple border is at the mouth of the Rio Iguaçu into the Río Paraná not far from the Iguazú Falls. The Triple Frontera is therefore in the middle of the Acuífero Guaranís. Geographically, the area belongs to the subtropical rainforest area, part of which is protected in the Argentine and Brazilian national parks of Iguazú.
