The San Fernando Castle, located in Alicante, is a fortress built in the 19th century during the War of Independence against the French. It is located on Monte Tossal and was designed by the military engineer Pablo Ordovás y Sastre.

The castle has an irregular design adapted to the topography of the hill and has several bastions and curtains with a broken layout. Although it was built for defensive purposes, it never entered active military service. During the Spanish Civil War, it was used as a concentration camp by Franco's troops.

Today, the San Fernando Castle is a place of historical and cultural interest, surrounded by the Monte Tossal Park and other points of interest such as the Alicante sports city and the Óscar Esplá music conservatory.

Less known than Castillo de Santa Barbara, but still fun to visit.
It was built on Mount Tossal, also known as Cerro de San Fernando, during the War of Independence against the French in 1813.
The castle was built as a prison, but also to strengthen the defensive capabilities of the Castle of Santa Bárbara. It was never put into use.
