Salt marshes in Neuharlingersiel
Past the Osthafen, over the dike towards Carolinensiel, the salt marshes stretch between the Wadden Sea and the dike and represent a habitat that is particularly worthy of protection, but also difficult for living creatures.CREATION OF THE SALT MARSHES
These areas between sea and land are flooded by the salt water of the North Sea during high tides. With every flood, small particles are washed onto the surface, which settle and form a layer of silt. If the silt layer is high enough, the so-called samphire can settle here, which particularly loves salty soils like this one.

At this point you can watch oystercatchers very well. Binoculars are recommended.
