The Heggeströver, as it was popularly called, was a narrow-gauge railway and traveled the route between Alsdorf and Geilenkirchen from 1900 to 1953.
The miners were taken to and from the individual mines on this train. Today you can still partially see the route.
The steam locomotive was called "fiery Elias" or "Heggeströfer" because it mostly surrounded places along meadow hedges.
