    Info from the web:

Dümmer Museum is the name of a museum of the natural and cultural history of the Dümmer in Lembruch in the Diepholz district of Lower Saxony. The responsible body for the museum is the district of Diepholz. The museum opened in 1968.[1]

The Dümmer Museum houses an exhibition with multimedia and interactive elements on two levels.[2] It has a large aquarium with local fish species. It also presents exhibits on the special flora and fauna as well as explanations on the formation of the Dümmer and the Dümmer region.[3] In addition to the permanent exhibition, there are also regular special exhibitions in the museum building. The focal points of the permanent exhibition are the departments "Primeval landscape and cultural landscape", "Natural diversity and nature conservation" and "Stone Age to touch".[4]

A "life in water research station" is integrated into the museum, where those interested can carry out independent investigations. In 2014, the German Commission for UNESCO recognized the research station as a project of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development. According to UNESCO, it teaches children and adults how to think and act sustainably.[5]

The Dümmer Museum is one of the "extracurricular learning locations" recognized by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Education in an education for sustainable development (BNE) in Lower Saxony.[6]

In addition to the Dümmer Museum in Lembruch, the Dümmer nature conservation station in Marl, the Dümmer bird show in Dümmerlohausen and the Dümmerniederung e.V. The work of the four institutions focuses on natural history, ornithology and the history of cultivated agriculture

In addition to background information on the natural environment with flora and fauna, the formation of the lake and water management, the cultural history of the region is also discussed, e.g. presented with its important archaeology.

Special exhibitions on various topics, action days, holiday programs and offers for the whole family take place regularly in the Dümmer Museum. An overview can be found on the homepage of the Dümmer Museum.

The Dümmer Museum in Lembruch shows you everything you need to know about the Dümmer region, its nature, landscape, and culture, past, present, and future. The many offerings in the permanent exhibition invite children and young people to discover, try things out, and participate. A tour of the Dümmer Museum is thus an experience for everyone.
