Best Hikes to Ronov Castle Ruins

Tips

  • Ronov (552 meters, Ronberg in German) is a distinctive conical basalt hill on the western edge of the Ralská upland. It is located about eleven kilometers southwest of Česká Lípa between Blíževedly, Kravař and Stvolínky. The hillside and top of the hill are protected as a natural monument of the same name with stone seas and scree forests. On the top stands the ruins of Ronov Castle.

  • Ronov Castle was built in the 14th century by the lords of Klinštejn, and has been deserted since the 17th century. A part of the outer fortification with bastions has been preserved. The top of the hill is overgrown with very limited views.

  • It goes steeply up the Ronberg to the Ronburg with its basalt columns, with wild growth between the walls, small paths in between and beautiful views over the country.
