The former mine railway embankment in East Brandenburg leads through quiet forests and swampy landscapes that reveal little of their industrial past. On the path that once supported coal mining between the mines and processing plants in Pohlitz and the surrounding area, the large industrial operations are now barely visible. Instead, the hiking trail runs through quiet paths lined with dense greenery, where you can experience the changing landscape forms particularly well.

The route offers a fascinating combination of nature and industrial history, as vegetation has slowly reclaimed the terrain that was once dominated by tracks and coal trains. The remains of the railway embankment are a reminder of a time when the Lusatian lignite industry shaped people's everyday lives and great technical efforts were necessary to bring the coal to the factories via special transport routes.

When hiking along the old mine railway line, you can enjoy nature to the fullest and at the same time experience part of the regional history up close. Especially in summer, the shady forest areas offer a pleasant change, and exciting views of the landscape, which is shaped by the past, open up again and again.
