Running up the Beacon along the SDW, is definitely a more gradual affair compared to its (in)famous road climb from the north. Still it's the highest point along the Sussex Downs with just under 250 metres and the third highest along the SDW. Needless to say it makes for gorgeous views and if you're lucky there's an ice cream van waiting for you in the car park where you cross Ditchling Bostall..
