Tips

  • On a hill, in the picturesque valley of the Samson, dominating village and valley, stands the castle of Goyet.
Goyet Castle was built in 1865 by Marie-Louise-Virginie van Goyet and her wife Jules Philippe Joseph van Francquen, according to plans by architect Vierset-Godin from Huy.
Jules Philippe Joseph van Francquen was mayor of Mozet from 1867 until his death in 1883, to which the old hamlet of Goyet also belonged. After his death it was sold to Diesbach Belleroche. Later it came into the possession of the Meurisse family and in 1984 it was bought by the Siccard family. It begins with courage and perseverance, and with respect for style, to the restoration of the castle. The ground floor and the roofs were completely restored and the castle got the view we know today.
In 2020, West Flemish entrepreneur Maarten Mattelin, from the catering company Ma Kwizien, will buy the castle of Goyet. The beautifully renovated castle is today an ideal place for a stay in the Condroz region and is open to all kinds of events.
