The path along the Isar is part of the Way of St. James from Munich to Schäftlarn. You can also hike from Großhesseloh to Schäftlarn and take the S-Bahn back. Shorter tours are also possible with a return journey by train. The Isar runs through a valley and every branch off the Isar goes up an incline.

The first bridge was built between 1851 and 1857, and was repeatedly upgraded in 1936, 1941 and the 1960s to support the weight of increasingly heavy trains. In 1983/84 the old structure was demolished and then rebuilt. At the inauguration ceremony in 1985 a replica of the eagle drove over it!
