The structure that most characterizes this mine is certainly the Santa Barbara extraction shaft, otherwise called Sa Macchina Beccia (old machine in Sardinian). This suggestive building, looking similar to a medieval castle, enormously attracts the visitor's attention; unfortunately the entire structure is abandoned and deserves another fate given the charm it covers.

From the Mediterranean maquis of the plateau that housed the San Giorgio mine, this building that looks like a castle rises majestically. It housed a huge steam engine used for mining. Built at the end of the 1800s, today only the large building and the room that housed the machine remain, of which there is no longer news.
this is probably where the Sardinian name Sa Macchina Beccia, the old machine, derives posthumously
