    Description

Granted in 1870 to the engineer Giorgio Asproni, the mine was then acquired by the Monteponi Company which decommissioned it in 1963.

The settlement takes the name of the Asproni village and brings together various interesting buildings: the management is a simple one-story building topped by a brick notched cornice which also forms the door and window frames, the latter with segmental arches with decorations that recall a geometric Liberty.

The director's villa is formed by an H-shaped block with two avant-corps that enclose a garden. In the central part you can see a three-storey tower with pointed and circular arched openings and finished with merlons. In the other walls, crossed by a cornice resting on perforated bricks arranged like dentils, openings with lowered arches and decorated with exposed bricks are repeated.

The cellar, or shop, has arched porticoes on two sides, while the church of Santa Barbara is built with exposed stone, has an arched entrance and is dominated by a two-light bell tower.

The mineral treatment plants are downstream from the cultivation sites and are spread over two floors with variously aggregated openings and concluded by a central tympanum.

The washery is made up of volumes aggregated at different levels and leaning against a hill of tailings in a spectacular position open to the valley.

The mine is part of the Geomining, Historical and Environmental Park of Sardinia, recognized by UNESCO.
