For a long time, the old, aging station building was a real blot, until the city of Menden and an investor decided to tear down the old building and build a new one. At the same time, the former freight yard was converted into a shopping center.
In the new station building there is next to offices a restaurant where the guests are served, among other things, delicious burger variations.

The Menden (Sauerland) train station was opened in 1872 and is located southwest of the city center on the Hönne. The station originally had facilities such as a kiosk and a restaurant, but after 1989 it only served the Hönnetalbahn between Unna and Neuenrade. The old station building was replaced by a new building in 2012. Today the station is served by the regional train line RB 54, which connects Unna and Neuenrade.

The Menden train station is still of considerable size, but the many dismantling measures in recent years are clearly pointing in the wrong (transport) policy direction.
