“After extensive renovation of the former home, the Langes Tannen Museum was opened in 1985.

As the foundation of the museum facility, Werner Lange bequeathed his family's house inventory, most of which dates from the 19th century, to the town of Uetersen. Ideally, this heritage - consisting predominantly of furniture, pictures, silver and everyday objects - reflects the living culture of a middle-class family. The focus of the exhibition was “Middle-class living culture in Northern Germany from the late 18th to the early 20th century”.

The rooms on the ground floor of the house were furnished according to the four most important room functions: living room, dining room, bedroom and a kitchen. However, this does not reconstruct an authentic living situation; Rather, the different institutions form a chronological sequence and each represent an example of a specific stylistic era. In each room, text panels provide information about the period-typical characteristics of the furniture on display.

On the upper floor of the museum, visitors receive information about the history of the Lange family and the development of the mill business using photos, pictures and documents. Graphics from Werner Lange’s extensive Helgoland collection are shown in the Heligoland Room.”
