Pestalozzistraße in Sankt Peter-Ording is the start of an experiment: bicycles in front of cars. The whole of the Federal Republic of Germany complains about high gasoline prices. In Sankt Peter-Ording that doesn't seem to bother most of the visitors, every meter is covered by car.
Studies have shown that most of the routes that are driven by motor vehicle are less than 5 km. In Sankt Peter-Ording in particular, however, most of the routes can be covered by bike or on foot.Pestalozzistraße is the beginning of a rethink in Sankt Peter-Ording - away from cars with exhaust fumes, parking problems, conflicts with other road users.Of course there are still inconsistencies, for example: who monitors that only residents are actually using this street, who monitors when and how compliance with the maximum speed limit, etc ??
We are curious to see what answers Eiderstedt has to the questions of residents and visitors .....

Pestalozzistraße is now a bicycle street. Tempo 30 applies, cyclists have priority and are allowed to ride next to each other.

Unfortunately, the bicycle road is seen more as a road by some motorists.
